A new artists trio shows its work at Pinehouse in Ronse from May 9th to 31st

DUALITY REVISITED THROUGH SOUND, PAINTING,
SCULPTURE & MODELLING

From May 9th to 31st 2009, Frédéric Nannan, Marie-Hélène Elleboudt and Olivier Petit show their work in Ronse, in the art-deco architecture of “Pinehouse“, a former textile factory. The exhibition is named “vortex” after the tremendous energy born from their encounter. Vortex explores the notion of duality from different angles and disciplines, a duality that each one of them experiences and lives internally.

All three artists express their own duality through their work and medium. Marie-Hélène Elleboudt (°1967) works with sound, while both Frédéric Nannan (°1972) and Olivier Petit (°1969) focus on visual material; Frédéric through painting and sculpture, Olivier through the modelling of masks. Vortex expo brings a unique opportunity for them to merge their works into one whole.

They chose for their collective exhibit a former textile factory in Ronse. Myriam and Christian Bodé-Cloquet, owners of the location, are giving total freedom to the artists to occupy the available space at their own liking and creativity.

Frédéric Nannan studied at the Ghent Academy of Painting. He is also a 3D designer and developer. His work showed in Ronse is guided by the duality between light and shadow, leading him towards a notion of ‘purification’. They’re to him three points between which he comes and goes.

Olivier Petit works around the concept of “vision” through masks, with “the visible and the invisible” as duality. In another life, he worked in the chemical industry. Before deciding to focus only on his creative energy, he combined professional activities with shows, playwriting and conducting pieces for theatre. He believes masks allow us to explore something else, not visible, things we sometimes refuse.

Marie-Hélène Elleboudt approaches duality through the feminine/ masculine aspects, guiding her towards “gentleness”. She works mainly with sound and vibration. After several years of travelling, she gets involved in the artistic network of Brussels where she coordinated “Musiclab”, a platform for improvised and experimental music at Les Bains::Connective.

Vortex expo is a new experience and an experiment for them. Not just an exhibit, but an invitation to share their passions, and to come and have a personal experience of sensations, impressions and emotions.
